Big Buffe
Explore the castle, this time in 3D!
What is this?
This game was made for the 24th Eggplant Gamejam, the theme was to do basically whatever with the first 9 games from UFO 50. I've been wanting to try 3D and Godot for a while, and was suddenly obsessed by the idea of a 3D Barbuta-inspired game.
I also liked the general idea of UFO 50 and its alternate history and games with under-explored ideas. And the kind of design that I felt was under-explored in this was is the 3D platformers not focused on fluid and expressive movesets. I wanted to do something simple, and that's why I landed with fixed cameras and tank controls.
But the main focus is still exploration, and I wanted to have different paths and secrets. Turns out making 3D levels takes a while! But I think I still managed to make something relatively complete for the jam.

Known Issues
There are a few collision problems, especially with slopes, you can randomly get stuck. Wiggle a little and it should be fine.
I've also had a couple cases of tiny teleportation, and a disappearance that should not happen anymore but I'm not sure. Anyways, beware of surfaces.
The web version has a weird lag with the first camera change, but I think it only happens once. Still not the most tested version so idk what can really happen there!!
If you *spoiler* the *spoiler* while facing a wall, you risk losing the *spoiler*. There's no reason to do this though so it should be okay.
Watch out though, if you *spoiler* a *spoiler* in a wall just above a respawn point, and then die, you risk getting stuck. This should be an extremely rare possibility, but you never know, don't be silly.
There's a room where everything seems big compared to your character. Don't worry too much about about that, it's fine.
Not really a bug but sometimes you'll just be in a dead angle. I promise I havent hidden stuff that forces you to explore blindly, you can just walk back, I'm sorry.

Very cool game !
The tank controls and camera placement felt cruel and funny in a very Barbuty way :)
///SPOILER///
I think I got the eggplant ending? I was confused at first with the softlock, then I reread your description!
I'm surprised that you say there are no softlock, as it felt very easy to lose the crosbow bolt.
Is it not required to finish the game? Is there another way to get it back?
I really liked the broken pillar under the bridge, a really cool revelation only made possible by the camera limitations.
I tried to use the knowledge later as a shortcut to the crosbow room, but I couldn't figure out a way to drop on it from above.
Yeah that shortcut is relying on a mechanic that I didn't really showcase here, still not sure how to do it in game. Let's say it might be easier to get there the other way around! :)
As for the crossbow it's indeed not required, it's just a way to go through alternative paths. I could say it's all carefully planned, but yeah it's to easy to lose the bolt and didn't have time for a solution to this :D
Ooh I should play around with that shortcut more then!
Haha I immediately lost the bolt on my first attempt, but it made using the crossbow more tense afterwards, so I'd say it works :p
